Santo Stefano di Cadore is the capital of Comelico, a meeting point between services, local history and nature. From here you can reach iconic places such as Val Visdende, while the town retains a lively identity between commerce, culture and memory. It is a strategic gateway to the valley.
Santo Stefano is the administrative center of Comelico and a point of reference for those visiting the valley. The town and the hamlets of Campolongo, Costalissoio and Casada preserve a widespread cultural heritage: the parish church in the historic center, the fourteenth-century church of Saints Giovanni and Filippo in Campolongo — rebuilt in the eighteenth century by Segusini — and that of Saints Lorenzo and Osvaldo in Casada. In Costalissoio there is the Luigi Regianini Museum of Surrealism, contemporary art at high altitude.
Outside the center, Val Visdende is home to the famous resonance firs, monumental trees selected over the centuries for violin making. Val Frison adds history: along the way you will encounter forts and trenches from the First World War, in a natural landscape that is still well preserved.
Casada
Along the road to Candide, just over 900 meters away, Casada is a quiet hamlet in a sunny and panoramic point of Val Comelico. The center of community life is the small church of Saints Lorenzo and Osvaldo, from the mid-nineteenth century.
Between dense woods and green pastures, the village opens up glimpses of the surrounding Dolomites. Far from the beaten track, it is the right destination for those looking for walks in nature and an atmosphere of total quiet.
Costallissoio
Clinging to the slopes of Mount Zovo at about 1,250 meters, Costalissoio is known for its panoramic position: a real terrace on the Comelico, overlooking the Dolomite peaks.
The village preserves the traditional Alpine architecture and the memory of the centuries-old history of the Rule, with the Church of Saints Philip and James marking its identity.
Surrounded by woods and pastures, it is a destination designed for those looking for regenerating excursions, pure air and the silence of high altitude.
Campolongo
In the heart of Val Comelico, where the Piave meets the Frison stream, Campolongo, at about 940 meters above sea level, retains the authentic character of alpine villages, where nature is intertwined with mountain life and the traditions of the Regola.
Along its streets you will find the Church of San Giacomo, a historic landmark for the community. All around, meadows, dense woods and the peaks of the Dolomites are the setting for walks and scenic itineraries — a quiet corner for those looking for genuine contact with the territory.
