Danta
At 1,396 meters, halfway between Cadore and Comelico, Danta is a small village with a long history. Inhabited since the sixth century, it houses dinosaur fossils, Renaissance art and peat bogs that are still intact. The sunny position and the quiet historic center make it one of the most genuine destinations in Val Comelico.
Danta di Cadore is a small mountain resort that stands out for its location, sun exposure and quality of the landscape. It is an ideal place for those looking for tranquility, nature and privileged viewpoints over the valley.
The town houses the Paleontological Museum “The Roots of Life”, where an extraordinary fossil find of a dinosaur is preserved, and offers access to one of the most interesting naturalistic environments in the area: the Torbiere di Danta, rich in biodiversity and also perfect for a family walk. To complete the experience there are the church of Santa Barbara, in a panoramic position, and the quiet rhythm of a village that invites you to slow down.
