St. Stephen's Day
Santo Stefano di Cadore is the administrative and commercial center of Comelico, located where the Padola stream meets the Piave. In addition to the main village, it includes Campolongo, Costalissoio and Casada. It is a place that combines services, local history and access to a natural heritage of great value.
From here you can reach Val Visdende and Val Frison, among woods, panoramas and traces of historical memory. The village also preserves a significant religious and cultural heritage, together with a lively everyday dimension. It is the ideal starting point to enter the valley and to discover one of its most iconic landscapes.
Danta
Danta di Cadore is located in a sunny and panoramic position, halfway between Cadore and Comelico. It is a small town with a strong naturalistic charm, known for its intact environment, tranquility and some places of great interest such as the Torbiere di Danta and the Paleontological Museum.
Here nature is intertwined with geological history and with an open, silent landscape, ideal for those looking for an authentic mountain, to be experienced calmly, between walks, panoramas and small discoveries. It is also one of the most suitable places for a slow discovery, between biodiversity, silence and open views of the valley.
St. Peter's
San Pietro di Cadore is the easternmost municipality in the valley, surrounded by the peaks of Peralba, Monte Zovo and Terze, in the territory where the Piave originates. Next to the capital there are hamlets rich in identity such as Mare, Valle, Presenaio and Costalta.
Here you will find historic buildings, churches, wooden architecture, alpine memory and very recognizable views. It is an important step to understand the relationship between Comelico, wood, the landscape and the forms of living in the mountains. Here the mountain is also told through the villages, the wooden houses and one of the strongest symbols of the area: the source of the Piave.
St. Nicholas
San Nicolò di Comelico is located in a green valley, surrounded by the mountains of the Popèra group and Monte Zovo. It includes the towns of Costa, Campitello, Gera and Lacuna. It is a municipality that tells an important part of the economic and social history of the valley, also linked to mining and iron processing.
Today it retains a cozy atmosphere, a widespread historical heritage and a very strong relationship with the landscape, the woods and the paths that lead to the border mountain. It is the most intimate and silent face of Comelico, where nature and the memory of work are strongly intertwined.
